Bridal Hairstyles

After finding the perfect dress for your wedding day, there are still a few things left to complete your look. One thing that you might spend a lot of time thinking about is your hairstyle. You probably don’t want your hair to cover your gorgeous gown. Maybe you don’t want it to make too much of a statement either because it could take away from your dress. Or, maybe you do want to go all out with a fancy up do and a flower crown. How often can you really wear a flower crown anyway? Now is your chance! Either way, there are so many hairstyles that could work for any type of hair and any fabulous gown you choose.

If your gown is backless, but you want to add a little more detail to your overall ensemble, consider an up do with some flowers.  While these flowers may seem large, the light colors are delicate enough that they don’t take away from the lace of the dress. They simply add to the look.

To keep your hairstyle on the simpler side, a ballerina bun might do just the trick. This classic hairstyle is so popular for our everyday looks, so why not for your wedding day? It’s sleek and classy, and with a nice headpiece can go from modest to dazzling.

Do you have short hair? It can be tricky to do an updo with too short hair, but adding some waves and curls can switch up your look. You might also add a headpiece or some flowers to step the look up a notch.

If keeping your hair up isn’t really your style, consider a half-up, half-down hairdo. This can either be really simple and relaxed or very regal and elegant, depending on your preferences.

Another option is just adding some delicate, effortless, loose waves to your hair. You can accessorize with a headpiece to add some detail. You could also pin a few strands back with a hair clip. If you want to stay away from hair accessories in general, you could simply add a few twists and clip your veil in.

Braids can take any look from understated to magnificent. A few twists and turns and your hair magically becomes a masterpiece. There are so many different braided hairstyles to choose from that it can be difficult to choose just one. Whichever you do choose, adding some flowers or clips can help to really make your braided hairstyle stand out from the crowd.

Put Some Color on that Wedding Dress

Purchasing an ivory, white, or an off-white color for your wedding gown might be the only thing on your mind. It’s tradition, right? Well, not so much anymore. Many brides are opting for colored gowns, from ivory to champagne or rose. Many designers have also been incorporating colors into their designs. This helps to accent details, especially lace overlays.

Pronovias gowns work well for the bride that wants something different in a subtle way. The Diman gown is for that perfect, pink princess. Although the color may be slightly pink, its light enough that it doesn’t stand out too much. The Dria gown features a slightly darker accent color, which makes the lace overlay more prominent. If the lace and the tulle underlay were the same ivory color, it would be difficult to see the beautiful features of that floral lace.

Mon Cheri gowns are close enough to white that any traditional bride may not be too bothered by the slight blue tone. They offer a touch of color, without being too bold. The silhouettes are absolutely gorgeous. The Grace satin gown is perfect for any bride looking for that Cinderella ball gown. The second, sequin gown offers a removable tulle skirt, to go from ceremony to reception within seconds. If you’re really not a fan of the misty blue tone, both gowns are available in diamond white as well.

The Jasmine Collection is perfect for brides that want to add a slight touch of color to their wedding dress. Many of the gowns offer different accent colors. This means that the underlay of your gown could be rose quartz, while the main color could be white or ivory. With white or ivory as the top, main layer, the dress appears to be more of a classic color. So, you could go bold underneath and subtle on top and still be that gorgeous, classic bride on your wedding day.

Every bride wants to be unique. If you want to switch things up and not be too traditional, but can’t quite afford a custom gown, adding a touch of color to your wedding dress might be the best option for you. No matter what you choose, you’re sure to be beautiful on your wedding day.

These styles, and so much more, are available at Aleana’s Bridal!

What to Wear Under the Wedding Dress

The day has finally come. You’re finally going to your first bridal gown fitting! But, are you bringing the right bra?

Choosing the right bra to go with the perfect dress can be tricky. You want support and comfort. You also want to make sure the dress looks perfect on you. Don’t worry though! We’re here to help you out on your best day ever with a few tips and tricks to help you decide what’s best.

  1. No bra – You may not need a bra at all for your special day. It all depends on your body and how you feel personally. Many wedding dresses are very structured and offer a lot of support all on their own. Some might come with a support system built right in. For others, you could work with your salon and seamstress to add one to your dress.
  2. Backless, stick-on bra – These can be tricky, but if you’re sporting a backless dress for your big day or have fabric that’s on the thinner side, this works wonders. It offers coverage and sticks right to your skin, so you decide where it’s most comfortable for you.

  3. Bustier – If you’re looking to add a little more curve, this might be the one for you. This works especially well with a ball gown. You want the top part of your gown to show off your shape on your Cinderella day. A bustier or corset will really accentuate the waist and support your bust to keep you looking your absolute best.

  4. Bodysuit – If you’ve fallen in love with a particularly low-cut dress and sticky tape just won’t work for you, a bodysuit might be an option. These offer a little bit more support and shape to keep everything in place. You might also find a backless bodysuit, perfect for a backless gown.

When it comes down to it, it’s all about what you feel the most comfortable in. Don’t wear a corset or bustier just because you feel you have to. Make sure you feel comfortable and beautiful on your wedding day. Choose what works best for you. Your bridal consultant and seamstress at your salon will be there for you to help you select the best option. Share your concerns with them and you’ll be sure to work it out.

Your Beach Destination Wedding Dress

Destination weddings are becoming more and more popular every year. Beach weddings are especially popular because the beach is a relaxing place. When you think of the beach, you think of rest, relaxation, serenity, and beauty. You can picture that gorgeous sunset against the water and feel the sand between your toes. What could be a more perfect place to get married?

If you are thinking about planning a beach destination wedding, here are some great locations in the Caribbean from Islands.com. If you want to stay within the states, you can search The Knot for the perfect local beach wedding venue.

Now that you’ve got the perfect location, it’s time to find the perfect dress! When you’re getting married on the beach you want to choose something light and airy. Don’t be afraid to go tight and sexy either, because you are on the beach after all! You also might want to shorten your dress a bit more than usual to avoid getting sand everywhere.

If you want to dip your toes in the water or walk barefoot, choose a fabric that is very light. Heavy fabric could weigh you down if it gets a little bit wet. Fabrics like chiffon, tulle, and English netting are very lightweight and won’t feel heavy. They’ll give you that light and flowy feeling that will flow nicely in the beachy air.

If you’re still aching for that princess ball gown, even on the beach, there are so many lightweight options to choose from! You can also always remove layers if the gown still feels too heavy. An a-line gown might also give you a more ball gown feel, without all of the layers.

Bachelorette Party Ideas

Here’s everything you need to know to throw your best friend the ultimate send-off to singlehood.

There are so many ways to have an unforgettable girls’ getaway. Plan a weekend away or stay local and plan an amazing night out on the town. But remember to do something which can make it memorable and most importantly, having as much fun as possible.

If you want to relax, look and feel refreshed, think about attending a spa and pampering yourself with spa services like massages and facials! Continue the spa-like feeling with goody bags for each party attendee filled with slippers, sleep masks, and nail files. Or why not hire a photographer to take gorgeous photos of all of you? Before the photographer arrives, hit up a salon for blowouts, give each other makeovers, and get dressed in your best outfit! Scout out a couple of fun locations and get a few fun props before the shoot so you get the most out of your time with the photographer.

No one said a bachelorette party has to be at night. If you’re more of a day-like person, meet at your favorite brunch place for good food, unlimited mimosas, and fun conversation. Call ahead to make a reservation for a large table or back area so you’re guaranteed to get in at a reasonable time! Don’t want to go out? Host brunch at your place! Make waffles, bacon, fruit salad, and have an omelette station set up. You girls can also put on your cutest bikinis, get some fun sunglasses, and party by the pool! Pick up some pool-friendly plastic cups or can coolers to fit your theme, and get ready to work on your tan. Don’t forget to take some time out of the day to jump in! One doesn’t also always have to have a destination. Have your party in a limo while it takes you where ever you’d like. Bring champagne and feel like a star as you drive around your town. I recommend going bar hopping or even driving through your favorite fast food joint!

Think out of the box! Major cities and resort areas tend to be great for bachelorettes since they offer a wide array of activity options. Plan a destination bachelorette party.  Visit Nashville, Tennessee, for its awesome country music venues, delish Southern food (the area around Broadway, the main drag, has everything you could ever need); Austin, Texas, for its booming food cart scene, live music of every variety and close access to lakes and vineyards if you want to mix things up; and Charleston, South Carolina, for its picturesque beaches, gorgeous architecture and lively nightlife. If you want to keep the logistics to a minimum, consider booking an all-inclusive resort or a cruise, so you won’t have to worry about pricing out different restaurants and activities.

*Bring some friends along with you… but a small group of 2-3 people to avoid an overwhelming number of differing opinions.  Plus, some bridal stores may not even have the room capacity to fit your whole posse…so keep it small to keep it comfortable for everybody.  Your bridesmaids would be best for some moral support.  If not, just bring your favorite female family member…mom, grandma, godmother, aunt, etc.  It’s important to pick a person, or people, whose advice you appreciate and style you admire most.  You want somebody who truly supports, knows, and loves you, so their honest opinion of what you look best in is what you will trust most.

TIP! : Make first time ventures to the bridal stores fun & free from expectations by bring a really great girlfriend with you.  If you take the pressure off, you can enjoy it as an adventure as you begin to see what is out there.  The “real” visits should be saved with your mom or whoever you plan to involve in the final decision making process.  Do the groundwork, narrow down your preferences, and then proceed with a more defined idea of what you’re looking for…with giving yourself plenty of time to explore.

*Bring your flexibility along…your highest form of open-mindedness!  Listen to your loved ones’ advice and be open to the possibilities that the store offers you.  Most people who work in bridal shops are experts on their stock and what styles suit which body types, so stay open to what they have to offer you!

You may a have a certain style in mind…like a sultry fish tail gown, but maybe that silk & simple princess cut dress that the sales assistant suggests looks ten times better on you.  Maybe you’re trying to find a dress to “conceal” certain parts of your body, but you find a gown that celebrates your curves instead of downplaying them.  The best looking gown will be one that accentuates your best assets.
